Future Prediction of Sex Toys in Hong Kong

Talking about sex toys (a.k.a. adult toys), polarized reactions may arise from different people: some may see them as something shameful and avoid talking about it while others may embrace them as something that enhances their quality of life by lightening their sex life. As traditional Chinese culture is deeply rooted in Hong Kong citizens’ mind, people are somehow reluctant to address the issues as they think talking about topics related to sex are inappropriate, they would choose to avoid discussing about these ‘sensitive’ matters. Although people in Hong Kong always consider themselves as open-minded and inclusive to multiculturalism, it is found that most Hong Kong people are receptive to new ideas only on the outside while they remain conservative deep down. 

 

 

BUT, under the effect of massive information explosion and rapid globalization, people are given a greater variety of channels and opportunities to find out more information related to sex and not to mention sex toys, they tend to have higher chances to broaden their knowledge about different issues. On top of this, sex toys are depicted in quite positive ways in most mainstream media in Hong Kong. Therefore, we are optimistic about the future of sex toys in Hong Kong and we believe the acceptance of the usage of sex toys is getting higher and higher.
